Yeah but making yourself a victim is not making it any better. Lot of highly efficient ADHD’ers out there. Start by cutting out social media so you give your brain less stress and try to find things that passionate you. Also cut off unnecessary interaction with people that you don’t need in your life. Usually it’s just a response of the brain to your surroundings and once you change those to a point were you are comfortable the brain will be able to think more slowly.

I had adult ADHDers in my life 50 years ago. They weren’t distracted by sm, but they were by everything else. ADHD brain will create distractions out of nothing. That being said, I agree the victim approach is immobilizing. The “masking hurts” approach as well. Yes, it takes effort, yes, it’s harder, our mountain is higher. But if u say “cut off unnecessary interactions”, then you don’t know much about ADHD.

I feel like we are in a way more adapted to a more natural way of living for humans, I believe “we dont fit in this society” not because our brain is a problem, but because our environment is. Its still challenging but there is so much misunderstanding towards this disorder simply because thats how it’s categorized, categorizing it as a helpless disorder is pure reification.

Not “making myself a victim” or anything at all. I’m simply stating that adhd isn’t a fun trait for people to use as an excuse when you forget something. And you sound extremely privileged to assume everyone can just pick up their shit and change their whole life. Not everyone is in the right space or time to change their entire surroundings so their brain can function properly. I hear what you’re saying but the approach is not there..

She didn’t make a victim statement … it’s still hard despite learning to function with it . And the functional people you see , you don’t see alone suffering in silence lol 😂 you just learn to cope and deal and make the best of it. Like anything . Many don’t make excuses, they just understand it has an effect on every day life

I didn't know cutting off unnecessary interactions with people would help me not have a meltdown because I have lost my keys for the 20th time today OMG

Acknowledging how something isn’t enjoyable isn’t making oneself a victim. Read her statement more literally instead of bringing your irrelevant assumptions into the discussion
