Tightened my budget - with no frills. Mapped out my goals for next 4 years. It helps to see the past year's progress and see the goal ahead.

Every year is a low buy/ don’t buy year. Every time I see something, I ask myself is this a “want” or a “need”. If it’s a need, I ask myself how much of a need and can I do without it. Easy easy.

I get really in touch with the stuff I own. So, say my sneakers. I'll clean them and check for wear. Put them on the shoe rack so I can see how many I have already. See if I can recycle the pairs that are too worn. Give away good pairs that are uncomfortable for me. Wear the others for a few more months or a year- its lifetime. Then buy a replacement that's similar to my most favorite old model. It's an intentional process and can be used for all kinds of things.

I’m bad about buying shampoo, body wash and such way in advance of needing it. When I cleaned my bathroom out yesterday, I took stock and won’t need those things for a while. It will make “Saving January” easier.
