To expand: if you believe that you bring more value to a convention than what they are providing you ie. booth, hotel, badge, marketing, food, travel, etc. Then you could ask for further compensation. You should go out of your way to explain why you deserve more compensation. Prove to a con why you’re of more value up front instead of expecting them to pay you.

Aside from professional cosplayers essentially being free entertainment for the con, working hours on end being in character for photo ops/videos etc. (also countless hours and money cost of building cosplays) If a convention is announcing you’ll be there they know the value of having you there. (I’m not a professional cosplayer but fall in the same realm of community draw for an convention)
