My hot Star Wars take is JJ Abrams was the worst creative influence on the series. (as we all know takes are opinions and opinions are subjective.)

JJ is a hack but George Lucas killed Star Wars in 1999

My hot take is that splitting the sequel trilogy between two diametrically opposed directors ruined it. JJ Abrams would have been fine with complete creative control but sticking Rian Johnson (who would have been fine for the same reason) in the middle ruined it

Why the disclaimer at the end? It’s the internet and you shot your shot. Now accept the consequences. Whatever they are.

I don’t think any single creative influence was the problem with the ST. Rather, it was the compete and utter lack of anything resembling a broader plan. TFA & TLJ are both good but flawed movies that could’ve worked as part of a trilogy that had a vision that matched their respective approaches. TFA was a great start for a nostalgia romp, torch-passing trilogy. TLJ could’ve be great as part of a trilogy pushing the boundaries of what SW could be. But in the same trilogy they just clash.
