Whoever tells you to focus only basics or DSA clearly didn’t learn their lesson in college. DSA is very important. But all areas are equally important and projects just cover more aspects. Design & Architecture, Data models, Refactoring implementations, Framework Lifecycle, Abstraction, OOPs & Interfaces, At least the Basics of Databases & Shell, DevOps, Cloud, Debugging & Error Handling, Integrations, Security, Caching, Authentication & Authorization, HTTP/s | SOAP | GraphQL, etc.
