Well, I am gonna gonna say it when I return to teaching next year because we closed off the year with awareness of holiday calories. I don’t think it’s a particularly bad thing to say especially to regulars who you know are motivated by that. As much we want people to do Pilates or value their overall health beyond weight watching, I know a lotta people who won’t step into a studio if they didn’t have calories they need to burn.

I teach several different forms of fitness. In every single one they tell us to nevvverrr say things like this. It’s now a taboo in the community, so idk why some instructors keep saying it.

If the instructor was comprehensively certified, she would would not refer to Pilates as a “ calorie burning”form of exercise. That is not the mindset a classically trained, Pilates instructor is supposed to present.
