I think, more than delineation by year, generational identity also depends on which generation raised you. I.e. boomers were the children of those coming back from WWII. A good chunk of boomers raised millennials. There are always outliers. Generations are also about major sociological trends within age-based demographics and how culture/technology/events shape behavior and vice versa.
