I agree with you 100%. Also, you’re aware that impulsivity is part of many of our neuro-diverse behaviors… consider that the people replying to you might be doing that without much thought for how others receive it, rather than intentionally tone-policing. It helps me remember I don’t have to even care about their response.

I took a humorous approach because that is what it felt to me: “if you are nice in real life, you can be as mean as you want on Threads.” I say this tongue and cheek, but it really is about: “if you have to mask for survival 100 percent to the time, then reclaim your brutal reality on threads and become completely immune to caring about how they perceive you. just my 2 cents because im aware this form of lessening is how i particularly unmask my self.

As someone who's just determined they're definitely autistic this past year I want to just thank people like you who have been diagnosed for a significant amount of your lives and have the desire to talk about your experiences and ways to cope in the NT world. I've found so many professionals and thoughtful diagnosed people online who have helped me navigate this early stage of unmasking and self-recovery.
