Gasped, yes. Cried, not so much

The Book Thief had me ugly crying that I needed to put the book down bc I could not see to continue reading.

Yes full on sobbing, sitting with a box of tissues.

I read close to 200 books a year and I can honesty count on one hand how many made me cry. 3 were because a dog died.

When I was a little girl, I read the full Three Musketeers trilogy, and at the end of the last book, D'Artagnan, by then old and an important army general, dies in the war field. I was howling. So sad

I have cried, sobbed, laughed out loud, outright cackled, got so impotently angry I was literally shaking and crying. Books, well-written books, are incredibly impactful.

I'm not much of a cryer but I was in the middle seat between two strangers on the last leg of my flight home when I got to the end of Me Before You. I boo hooed.

maybe try A Little Life, that book gave me a migraine from crying so hard and making me so distraught

I cry pretty easily but yes I have sobbed over books.
