I used to tell people after having worked retail for 12 years "look if we remember you 5 minutes after you left, that's not ever good". I didn't think non retail-people realize the sheer level of insane nonsense one sees on the regular when working with the public.

Once had a woman with two rats riding around on her shoulders, under her hair. Also had a pervert who’d call special orders for porn in, so while our mostly female staff took forever to look up titles like “Sex Warrior Pudding” in the ancient computer system, he could get his jollies.
