What I’m seeing from the random Nosferatu threads is that way too many people only know “Gothic” as an aesthetic & don’t know its rich literary tradition! It is so much better if you take some time to learn about it. What makes it *are* the dread, the mood, the madness, and the repressed desires. Gothic aesthetics are SO GOOD bc the setting of a gothic tale is often as much a character as the characters themselves. Everything to serve the atmosphere of uncanniness.
