That the tech giants laid off tens of thousands of employees over the last two years is damn good proof that they really don’t need to import tech talent from overseas on H1B visas.

H-1Bs aren’t just tech workers fyi. They are scientists in healthcare companies, Doctors and Teachers in Rural America. Management Leaders in companies. To pigeonhole H-1Bs to a “sector” is silly. Also 85 K visas annually? Within a country that’s 330 Million? With the 1.8 Mill GC apps pending that’s about 0.55%. That’s what puts a bee in your bonnet?

They don't need them, but they are good for our economy. A lot of the people who have started important companies in the US came here on H1B visas. It's not like there is a ton of unemployment in the tech sector.

Now I’m curious as to the breakdown of those laid off, H1B vs Americans?
