My favourite show of all time. Refreshing to see a first time viewer love the ending as much as I do.

I hated the ending, made the entire show pointless, everyone got a happy ending. The rest of the end was okay I just didn't like the idea of everyone being reunited, life doesn't work that way. Touchy feely nonsense. It was weird too, take Sayid, his entire past revolved around his love for Nadia but in the afterlife he's with Shannon, a woman he barely knew for a few weeks.

We finished it last night after having rewatched it all again with my son. I didn't hate the finale as much as I did the first time, but I still think it really only wraps up season 6 and not the rest of the show. The way I put it at the time still holds: "There's this island, that is important because it is somehow mystical / magical / powerful, and also, when you die, you get reunited with people from a special time in your life, which has nothing to do with that island, but there you go."

The showrunners explicitly said they weren’t going to make it all “everybody’s dead and this has all been a weird near-death collective dream,” then turned right around when they’d written themselves out of ideas and made the ending exactly that. Trash.
