Supposedly retired before 62. One have to pay healthcare insurance premiums before 65, IRRMA Medicare part B additional premiums after 65, 85% social security taxable, and RMD requires minimum distributions taxes, all due to the 401k pretax money. One would not have so much additional taxes if all Roth converted.
