Poverty is the corner stone of homelessness, family breakdown, drug and alcohol abuse, child abuse and neglect, all of which leads into antisocial behaviour, crime, domestic violence and incarceration. If all the costs of this fallout was put into supporting women and families before a child is even born, we could massively reduce these issues within a few generations. It wouldn't happen overnight, but the money must be invested now!
