There was a time (pre-Reagan) were the US GOVERNMENT subsidized the cost of education. We ACTUALLY believed in educating our citizens, future workforce so we INVESTED in it. Reagan took advantage of this system when it cost next to nothing to get a college education. He got his and then cut much if not all the funding to higher ed. Now tuition is skyrocketing!
