As an American geek who married someone from India, my personal observations about each culture’s values do align with Vivek Ramaswamy ‘s claim, although there are also other factors driving India’s high number of engineering graduates. But what I don’t understand about Ramaswamy is why he would then proceed to align himself with a political party that (1) Demonizes “educated elites”. (2) Vilifies people with autism and ADHD, who make up a sizeable portion of STEM geeks. 🪡

I've head some Indians actually treat their domestic service like slaves. There have been a couple of cases in NYC where they have bought people into the country and locked them at home like slaves.

Obviously STEM is a difficult track (I know because I have 3 degrees including a Bs, MS, and PhD.) so many Americans will avoid it all together. There are also lots of highly qualified students and professionals on H1B visas. But what Vivek doesn’t tell you is that the reason there is a preference isn’t so much “culture” but costs. The capitalist always prioritizes $$$.
