Learning to embrace the hobbies I really want to pursue. I found a pottery class near me and I’m so excited about it! Any tips?

1. "Throwing" or using a wheel takes some getting used to. Be patient and kind to yourself. 2. Wear an apron if they don't supply you with one so you don't get clay residue on your clothes. 3. Make sure you score the hell out of both sides of the things you're wanting to attach together. (You'll learn about this in class)

1. Make sure any pot you make is COMPLETELY DRY before you place it on the bisque firing shelf. Be patient and let it dry another week if you are not sure. 2. Give yourself permission to toss most of what you make into the clay recycle bin. 3. Enjoy the sensual pleasure of clay

**do not** take cleaning up for granted! use a damp sponge to wipe everything down, even your clothes if an apron doesn't protect you from all the mud. when clay dries it can form very fine dust particles that can tear up your lungs when inhaled. it's a fantastic art form, so practice it safely 🩵

So in with your heart and mind open and just enjoy in your first class. Don’t be nervous :)

Don’t fire anything till you’ve made (and reclaimed) 20 cups. It’s better to concentrate on one thing at a time eg throwing before you start trying to learn glazing. I know you’ll wanna see the finished product tho 😂
