If it’s an age restriction from the manufacturer maybe it’s not safe or hasn’t been studied in the age group. Certain vaccines have not been studied in certain ages of kids so they would not be covered. Sounds like this is about patient safety. Yes, screening databases should trigger alerts for medications prescribed to restricted age groups when the drug is e-prescribed.

I think that they can hide behind the “safety” excuse, but if this is a drug that someone has been on for a while and it is working and there have been no safety issues to date, then ithere is no reason to suspect that all of the sudden when someone turns a year older that the wheels are going to fall off of the cart. I think it is more about saving money so that their investors can get their dividends.
