I am not a technician and I hate both slot and Phillips with a passion. I had to unscrew (and re-screw) a seriously tight Torx once (burner of the furnace for maintenance) and the next time I have to do something with screws in my home I will replace whatever gets touched with Torx. That thing was a pleasure to work with, a Phillips would have cammed out and stripped three times over.

Flathead screws still have niche applications, like in the marine industry where removing rusted or corroded fasteners can be incredibly difficult.

I’m not that, but I hate them too. Flat head screw drivers are for taking the lids of paint cans scraping dog shit off your shoes
