In the UK for Xmas with family. Heading to Bath tomorrow. So, with my Canadian accent, should I say Bath, or Bath? I mean, I don’t say Derby or Reading. What’s the protocol?

5 小時內	Isobel Stark issy_gark	I lived there and said Bath (short a) and Bath (long a) interchangeably but I only ever say castle (short a) unless unwittingly influenced by my Hampshire-born children who say carstle (and then I feel as if I betrayed generations of my forebears). Besides, you’re Canadian. Have a maple leaf somewhere and we’ll forgive you anything as you aren’t a yank ;)
