Bioplastic / plant-based plastic / corn plastic This is still plastic, and is mostly made from corn through an agricultural process so inefficient that it takes tremendous energy (in fossil fuels) to grow the corn. There are gov't subsidies to grow corn so that is why it is in every packaged food and now being turned into plastic. We should be regenerating that land to grow food and forests, not fields of corn.

HA this sucks because it encourages apathy while offering no alternatives for something better. “well if all the things I’m trying to do better are a scam, why bother at all”

Even stuff like cotton is not exactly sustainable, given the HUGE amount of fresh water it takes to grow them. Especially when potable water is still a major issue in so many disprivileged communities
