My worst experience as an autistic person: living in a university dorm. I was able to cope with any difficulties if I could go home and relax afterwards. But being among people all day and then being with strangers again and masking 24/7 was beyond me. I almost lost my mind. My mental health was the worst it had ever been in my entire life, I was so lonely and yet terribly overwhelmed by the presence of other people. I remember it with a shudder.
