Jimmy Carter, 39th President of the US from 1977-1981, has died. He is the first President to reach 100 years of age.
He was a fervent supporter of Civil Rights in Georgia and beyond and said that Coretta Scott King was with him and his wife Roslyn when he won the Presidential election. He would be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian work - the 2nd Georgian to do so after Martin Luther King Jr.
