She sounds like she’s projecting internalized homophobia, and that isn’t me even trying to be funny or mean. As an ex-Christian I know a few people who were the same way until they realized their internalized homophobia came from their parents. They were negative about it because they didn’t want to disappoint or “sin.” It’s so crazy that a religion that’s supposed to “love thy neighbor” and be welcoming is so hateful to people who aren’t like them. That’s why I left. Been agnostic ever since.
