As a European Apple user, my iPad, Mac Book and iPhone all have USB-C charging ports. They all charge fine on the same charger as my Android works phone and several sets of headphones and Bluetooth speakers.

And Apple and Switch support is clearly not because they knew the EU will enforce USB-C and they prepared for it? Also it was a defacto standard for years now, so just another reason why it makes sense.
