I think it’s a combo of things People do dislike self checkout but 1)some self checkout only takes card and people only have cash 2) may be splitting payment which is easier to do with a cashier than self 3) they may be using some sort of assistance that is easier to do with cashier 4) purchasing mark down items that the cashier has to enter in manually or scan coupons for (or $1 off almost expired meat) 5) some people just have a harder time understanding how to use self checkout smoothly

I never have problems with self-checkouts working, but going through a cashier means stuck behind someone arguing with the employee over a coupon or a sale price.

Self checkout should be for 15 items or less. Every time I go it’s (immigrants) with full shopping carts who tie up all of the lines. You end up standing in line at the self checkouts while all the register lights start flashing for an attendant because someone has made a mistake. Ugh.

I love self checkout. It's faster and I get to pack the way I want. What's the difference if I have to unload my cart anyway?. ... And, trust me, they can't get cashiers as it is...

I will never check myself out. I won't help eliminate jobs or take the chance of being accused of shop lifting if I miss something by mistake.
