The fear mongering in the 80s towards those who were infected with HIV was beyond cruel. Not only was a person infected with at that time a deadly disease, but people were made afraid to touch them. I remember hugging a guy who had been diagnosed with HIV … people gave me shit about it, but for my part, I couldn’t imagine not hugging them while they were going through such a horrible situation.
