The alternative is to not put music on Spotify, not get discovered, and also not making a living as a musician. So if I won't make a living as a musician, at least investing a bit in my hobby will mean some people get to hear my music (I agree that Spotify are very predatory but that's not the point I'm discussing).

Does anyone know a legit artist story that just makes original music, uploads to Spotify and earns a living that way? No live performance, no other deals or platforms… just millions of Spotify listeners every month, for years upon years… Is that even a real thing?

I’m making money on Spotify without paying for anything so far.
