My therapist asked me if I would speak to my kids or friends the way I speak to myself and honestly that hit home for me. What’s the best advice you’ve received from a therapist?

Love myself with the same compassion and forgiveness as I love my sons. That was my mantra for most of a year and it works.

I didn’t get this from a therapist but it’s my favorite question to ask clients AS a therapist, especially women. I ask them to list the top five people in their lives, who takes top priority. Then I ask, “why aren’t you at the top of that list or even on that list?” Because so far no one ever has been.

Mine said the exact same thing to me. It definitely hits different. I’m learning to love myself so I can give myself the same grace I give to others 🫂
