I actually like it because it is USPS shunting responsibility back onto the shipper, who clicked "shipped" when all they did was pack the box. If it takes 5 days to change from that status, then you know it's your merchant, and not USPS, being slow.

What's even more useless is them not automatically realizing that if your package has been "out for delivery" for 2 weeks, that its probably been lost or stolen.

Albeit annoying it’s often nice to simply know the shipping label has been printed but hasn’t been scanned into the shippers system. Seems like a logical step in the shipping process, ya?
