This dude Oliver Anthony had a song which blew up huge on social media in August 2023 and he was in all the newspapers because of it. He’s since left the music industry because he hates it. Here are excerpts of his experience in the Nashville music business. Music Industry

I think he has unrealistic visions because the things he's saying is Music Industry 101. If you don't already have a fan base this is how they know to create one for you. Yes, they're greedy but that isn't new information.

This guy is also a fake astroturfed musician who has a main career as an architect.

Come on man, they just wanted you to get a haircut and not write songs about how shitty people on welfare are.

Then he calls out Parker McCollum , who toured his ass off for years playing every dive bar and honky tonk in every small town in Texas writing his own music and building everything he has. So OA loses all credibility for me, he should have went on the Voice, maybe his 15 minutes would have lasted longer

I felt the angst in his song until he directed it at poor people being run through a system that targets them for profit. In his defense, he wasn't even trying to be a famous musician, but a shit ton of conservatives loved that line shaming people on welfare about goddamned fudge rounds so he was lifted to hero status in their eyes for a bit. But he's not wrong about the music industry - keep peeling back the layers, grasshopper

Bro you got 3.1 mill month listeners on Spotify. No telling if that’s equal in Apple Music. You probably get about 4 grand a month off that = 40,000 a year. Focus on reinvesting that into a core fan base and forgot Nashville or wherever you felt the need to go. Nic D showed ppl you can do music full Time with a family no touring. A great music career.
