I widens the gap. I see it already in my district.

School choice is nothing. Reduce class sizes and reduce teacher workloads. Put more adults (instructional aides) in the classrooms, too, and make learning fun again! Less rigid structure/assessments, more learning through play.

School choice siphons money away from the system. Even if 'some' families will pay the difference to put their kids in private school, there will always be those who have only the now less funded public option.

In my opinion, school choice is the modern “separate but equal.” The separation now is by economic class, rather than race. It will only widen the gap, both educationally and socio-economically.

Why did you ask this question? From your responses to replies you have clearly made up your mind. There are zero schools for any disability in my town other than public schools. In fact I know families kicked out of private schools for dyslexia. This is a dishonest post when really you aren't interested in looking at the issue

Based on your responses to anyone opposing your pre existing beliefs this is a disingenuous question. You’re not seeking answers but validation.

Public tax dollars need to stay public. Same for police, fire, medical. As soon as we go for- profit, we are diluting the foundation of the community. School choice that includes siphoning tax dollars to religious-based, for-profit, or elitist schools only widens the gap. Do all states & school districts do it well? No. Research places where the proof is in the data… and I don’t mean test scores. Look at graduation rates, alternative programming, positive community feedback to support change.

We have it in Michigan and it only seems to divide into the haves and have nots. Charter school students have parents who are able to drop off/pick up, and interact more often. Students with attendance, academic, or learning issues are not "invited" back so public schools has a greater ration of difficul

School choice is a time bomb for much more severe and expensive issues down the road and in the meantime severely widens the gap

“School choice” programs don’t actually improve outcomes for anybody. The wealthy use it to subsidize their tuition. The poor can’t afford the difference. 90% of American families choose to send their kids to public school. Why can’t we respect that?
