I feel you, to some extent. The only version I really like is the one my mama makes. Everyone else’s is too watery. Hers has a thicker consistency—not as thick as stew, but definitely not as liquidy as the other ones I've tried, whether from family (who can throw down in the kitchen with everything else) or restaurants.
