My friend changed gears so fast. Went from “there is no way I could love my baby more than my cat” to literally hoping the cat would go to cat heaven and leave her in peace. When I lovingly/laughingly pointed it out, she insisted it was different bc her cat “got super annoying” after her baby was born, otherwise she would love them the same.

Having a baby literally changes your brain to be hardwired for motherhood. Everything else feels overwhelming and overstimulating. That being said, I still like to have my alone time with my dog on walks.

I feel like that's a biological thing. People are crazy about their dogs because they don't want kids, so they shift their biological tendency to care for and nurture another being to a dog. When they have kids, that affection is usually turned towards its natural, biological recipient, the baby.

That is me. I was obsessed with our dog before we had kids. I still love her but it’s just not the same anymore. Responsibilities and developing brain changed all that. I don’t have time to obsess over our dogs and they annoy me a lot of the time. It’s very sad and I try to catch myself when I think like that.

I can confirm . I was a “fur mommy” once and now I have three kids . I love my dog but I don’t know what the hell I was thinking when I thought having a dog was the same as having a kid . I was completely irrational then lol

Not me lol. I'm in animal rescue and my three dogs are still very much my babies, alongside my human baby 🥰

While pregnant with my first child I said at work I hope I love my baby as much as my doggy. OMGGGG what dog?? Hahaha just kidding but he’s definitely down the pecking order now!!! So I def understand this post lol. Still love my doggy though. First baby really
