Unfortunately it's used often for when you mean 0 not O especially written. I was taught that way for numbers but I do the slash on the opposite slant.

It shooks me that some people don’t understand that a slashed zero is a valid representation of ‘zero’ as a number.

I started using RØDE microphones for work this year and discovered only this week that it’s an Australian brand and pronounced like “road”, not like “reu-duh” (as I have foolishly been saying it for months)! Why the Ø?!

For me it’s so natural because I’m Norwegian 😂
