I’ll add - if you’re going to carry it a long time, put a layer of parchment paper over the edges and add a wrap of plastic (Saran or eq) to keep the adhesive from oozing onto what’s next to it when it gets hot. I keep a small bit in my day pack whenever I travel, along with a single use cyanoacrylate and a foil pack of epoxy.

I saw the pic first and assumed that the card was placed to easily find the end of the tape until I read the caption 😭

I can honestly say that I have never been out and about and suddenly found myself in need of a piece of duct tape. But I suppose this is a good idea for people who do end up in that predicament.

Good tip. I noticed a few gift cards this year were now cardstock so keeping plastic ones around for reuse could start being handier than we expect for things like this. I have used them similarly in the past for winding washi tape around as well.

I also wrap some around the top of my hiking poles, just under the handles. You never know when you might need some for repairs or first aid. I actually used it once to split someone’s ankle using a branch and my duct tape.

I do this while traveling. Duct tape is terrific for avoiding blisters, covering annoying lights in hotel rooms, repairing torn luggage, or covering stupidly placed shifter knobs on rental vans that are dangerously close to the radio volume knob.

It took me longer than I want to admit to figure out what this was a hack for, but then i remembered how often I need duct tape recently
