I did the same in 2019 when I bought my house—picked up a stack of cloth napkins at goodwill and they became my paper towels, with some washcloths for larger spills. It’s been great!

I’m trying but my fiancé seems to want to single-handedly keep the paper industry in business.

Nothing but paper towels make sense when cleaning grease off of a pan after frying. One small roll lasts 2-3 months here, and to me, that‘s acceptable (and better than clogged pipes).

I have used cloth napkins for over a decade now - but I love my paper towels , Viva cloth style. Won't give them up!

What should I use for soaking up the last bit of oil out of pans? I have septic so I don’t put any cooking oil or grease down the drains. I use fast food napkins if I have any, but other than that it’s paper towels. That is really my last holdout use for them. Any ideas?

Non paper towel user here 🙋🏻‍♀️ ….. BUT if you check what your ‘paper’ towels are made from, there aren’t many brands that are 100% paper……

Something I've rarely ever bought - maybe when staying away from home occasionally. Towels and cloths wipe stuff up fine so never really saw the point.

We use cloth napkins and cloth dish towels and have for my entire adult life. But aside from grease and oil which shouldn’t go into your drain…we use paper towels for pet messes (poo and vomit). And we use paper facial tissue because I just can’t convince the family to carry a handkerchief. We did switch to bidets. Overall I’m happy to have the option to occasionally use paper.

I use them but put them through the worm farm and eventually onto the garden. My environmental sin is plastic wrap. The recyclable doesn’t work. Any suggested alternatives welcome.
