Some people don't hate it.... One of my kids tell me they rent specifically so THEY aren't responsible for the repairs.. idk either....

Why would want to deal with home ownership, being locked in area , to a home that I will never get what I put into it once I pay off a mortgage? What's the benefits of owning ? So you can borrow off it and not own it ? If you loose your job then what , your stuck with this house payment ..can't just up and move ..

Here’s a question I have for people who bought a home say 5 years or more ago. If the average American doesn’t have $1000 in savings, then how are they going to fix a major house problem that costs 10-30K to repair without refinancing the house (because interest is so high it’d kill their monthly payments)?

You are not getting it. Home ownership is not as easy as it used to be. Get a clue

Not hating on home ownership. We'll see if they pay that mortgage off in their life time or are they gonna live the delusional lie of "I get 2% interest, and I have equity " okay but can you retire tomorrow? How much security does that bring to you? And is it worth it that you gotta go sit in traffic everyday, stressing trying to pay that mortgage? And are you even capable of investing in other places like a Roth? Mutual funds? Emergency fund?

Rent is just as high as mortgages where I am at. And what do you get every month for your $1,200 ? Might as well flush that down a toilet. Never rented never will. I get 1,000 dollars closer every month to fully owning a home. And in the meantime I get to do what I want when I want to with the house. Some of you can't even paint your apartment 🙄. And I'm over here with 13.5 acres and a house. Ya pretty sure I'm not missing out on having 50 neighbors in a block radius.

One quick question; what City/state do you live in?

Lmao the American education system. And its not that we hate it, its scary to put yourself in more than 2/3 debt of your monthly income. Do you own a home?

Because they can’t afford it. Rent versus a mortgage is nowhere close to the same they are desperately trying to grasp at straws saying her renting is better than actually on something outright. When I’m done paying my mortgage there will still be property tax, insurance Ill have to deal with but thats a drop in the bucket compared to insane rent increases. As far as fixing things - I want that burden vs. someone else because at least I know itll be done correctly.

I am a home owner. Here’s what I hate about it. - high cost of entry. Between the down payment and the mortgage payment it’s prohibitively expensive - they don’t tell you about maintenance costs. 10-20% per year - property taxes add to the cost and lately they’ve gone up - HOAs ruin part of the joy of owning a home Not about equity (which you don’t see til you sell) or any other $$ benefit
