A few years ago the harbour master of the Ìsle of Bute decided to get a new sign welcoming people in English and Gaelic. Unfortunately he wasn't a Gaelic speaker nor was the sign-making firm. The sign was proudly put up. 'Failte gu Eilean Bhoid'. After a few weeks the harbour he noticed Gaelic speakers were giggling as they walked past the sign. So he asked what was so funny. The correct spelling is 'Eilean Bhòid'. Without the accent the sign translated to 'Welcome to the Isle of Penis'
