You are aware that Hanukkah as a holiday is proof that the Jews homeland was in Israel, 2000 years ago, right?

This post is an embarrassment to Judaism, and to the lack of education you have about the origins and meaning behind Hanukkah. It certainly has nothing to do with solidarity for Palestinians In fact, the reason that it was never canonized into the Hebrew Bible is specifically because the rabbis were very uncomfortable with the violence and vitriol. But you do you.

For those asking — Hanukkah celebrates resistance against oppression, as well as renewal and hope. It’s been co-opted by zios as a nationalist holiday but there are many interpretations of Hanukkah and its history that rightfully reject this narrow lens. Hanukkah honors liberation and the strength we embody when we rebuild what’s been broken by chaos and war. I’ll honor my Jewish ancestors and identity by lighting the candles in solidarity with Palestinians — always. 💜
