That comment section is equally depressing, people justifying $15 make up from Temu?? Who is needing that much makeup that you can’t invest in a good set that will last a loooong time? People need fucken hobbies outside of retail therapy.. far out it’s depressing.

There really is no way to live ethically in this social climate. You’d have to be delusional to outwardly bully someone for shopping at SHEIN, since there’s no way in hell you’re in any position to do so. Nobody has the moral high ground here. Simply being a modern human is destructive in itself.

What depresses me about this is you can try to be ethical but if you shop on Amazon or Etsy or even sometimes but from small discount stores, their products are dropshipped or resold from sites like Shein, AliExpress and Temu that exploit workers. This goes to say for a lot of big box stores, too that may use similar factories and you really can't tell. Unless you can 100% verify that an item is handmade using ethically sourced materials, it's hard to be ethical in this capitalist society.

We don't have power over everything we purchase. But we can all make ethical choices whenever possible. From clothing to electronics and everything in between, there is always an ethical approach. Other than the human rights violations, fast fashion is one of the largest contributors to pollution. It isn't an option of just being able to do better. We SHOULD do better.

I understand the sentiment however there is no ethical consumption under capitalism. The produce you buy at the store was picked by the exploited. The thrift store you shop at mistreats the LGTBQ community. Where do you draw the line?
