Wow that’s pretty nasty

What if goodwill doesn’t catch your broken toaster? What if someone who really just needed an affordable appliance has paid money they worked hard for on your broken toaster?

Why not throw your busted toaster in the trash?! Lazy and arrogant and practicing tax evasion.

I donate anything I cant sell on ebay or that isnt worth the time it takes to list, I also shop there all the time

You probably don't donate enough to actually make the write off work. The amount needed is absurd.

They recycle the items you are too lazy to take to a recycling center. Goodwill is probably the most responsible charity when it comes to recycling.. very little if anything heads to the landfill. Dumpsters at other charities are loaded with salvageable donations. When their trash bill gets to huge they stop accepting certain items.

It’s better to find a way to throw it away. Stop the cycle of moving and storing junk. With the standard deduction, you are very likely not itemizing your frickin’ Goodwill receipts, and your tax preparer is annoyed that you include all that trash.
