One of the most disturbing things I did yesterday was make a post confessing an insecurity. By far the most engaging of my posts (330 comments). Most of them positive but many negative attacks. It’s like sharks to blood in the water. I deleted the post and will focus on my non-engaging art posts from now on lol

Ignore and block would be my reaction. It's less about the number of followers than the quality of each one.

Omg. You are one of the first people I have encountered that also has 5 degrees. Almost universally, it's men who don't believe that I do. And I love it when they try to mansplain concepts that I have obtained my doctorate from. /eyeball aaaaall the way back and around again.

I'm a man that's sold keyboard gear, been a keyboard tech, programmer, AV Tech and stagehand. I've seen that intelligence and ability has no specific gender. I've met many dumbass men in positions they didn't deserve. I respect your knowledge and ability greatly. I suspect they do to but they're threatened. Keep doing what you do, you are making an impact and positive impression

Most of that standoffish/slightly (or very) aggressive behaviour seems so much a part of Internet life for some folks. I try to keep my distance from most of them, but occasionally I do the stupid thing and tangle with them. It never ends well. And, yes, they are always male. Blocking is all we can do, I guess.
