Is it really burn out or is it people going into the career for the money only who never learned apathy? I’ve been a medic for 15 years. In the ED for 3 and the entitlement I’ve seen from new grad RNs?!?! Ooooof

I would shy away from burnout and adopt the idea of moral injury. You have a large group of people who, for the most part have lots of empathy and are trained to do the best for every patient. They then continue to get handcuffed by private equity owned facilities And see the wrong thing being done without power to fix it

Yes. What we do need are strategies to increase well educated nurses and also facilitate improved use of nursing extenders and paraprofessionals like Community Paramedics. Staffing levels need to be improved through creativity.

The answer is travel nursing. Generally better pay. If you really like a place you can re-up, if not bye bye. Far more control over your working life.

It's the hardest job, make a mistake and you can be sued or charged legally. Shortages of staff, mandatation. Verbal abuse and now lots of physical abuse.

I regret becoming a nurse and wouldn’t do it of I could go back. Its not worth it at all. Healthcare is all about profits and I don’t want to be apart of that.

Yes to me it’s still worth it. I just retired after 35 years and miss it everyday. You don’t go into nursing to be a job. We need nurses to continue to fight for change. There are so many areas to work in nursing. Keep moving until you find something that works for you. Work in Magnet hospitals, Union Hospitals, Travel, work in states that have staffing laws like California.
