I don’t know who needs to hear this but pet ownership is not cheap, it’s not meant to be cheap because you are providing for an entire life. You are not obligated to own a pet, and if you do not have the finances to do right by your pet, and are of the mind of i need emotional support more than they need veterinary care (ie I’m entitled to the animal because they make me feel good even though i can’t afford it), i am judging you.
