I don’t think this makes you a terf or an asshole, but I (a non-binary person) am super confused why some non-binary people don’t identify as trans. Obviously, you don’t owe me any sort of explanation, but it does confuse me. Like, unless you had some very exceptional parents, your gender identity doesn’t match your assigned sex at birth? That’s what being trans is.

Gender is more complex than just black and white as well as cis and trans, so even tho nonbinary is something that falls under the definition of being trans, identifying as trans not fitting for some nonbinary people and that's totally valid. You should be allowed to identify yourself with what describes you best and that can be nonbinary but not trans. Labels are only symbols to describe a model of reality anyway and there could never be enough symbols to describe every identity to 100%.

I get it. I don't necessarily ID with non binary, but gender isn't really a factor to my personal identity. I wouldn't call myself trans by any stretch, but I don't really identify with my agab. I don't think it needs to be much deeper than that unless that feels right for you.
