I’m going to be fully honest. I don’t believe people actually think the earth is flat. I think it’s an in-joke that’s gotten out of hand. I don’t need this belief to be changed. Thank you for your time.

It seems to happen with every satire or spoof. No matter how silly the joke, a few people start to believe it for real. Spinal Tap, Church of the Sub-Genius, Flying Spaghetti Monster, all went from from obvious joke to real cult, for some people.

It’s mostly true that they are just engagement farming. But I do think some believe it. The same people who think HAARP can direct hurricanes, the government set fire to Maui, and the Mist is literally occurring right now, seriously do think there is a worldwide, history-long deception of the nature of the universe.

As a person who actively engaged with flat earthers for about 2 years I can guarantee 95% of them are not flat earthers but trolls. The rest a broken, sad people who can't deal with reality.
