Growing up in Ireland, it was weird to experience it. I mean, N. Ireland was like another totally different country, so when you'd see on the news people being shot or blown up, you'd think "But that's MILES away". Nothing better than having school cancelled and staying at home because there was a "Bomb scare". Kids cope in different ways I guess. There was just something "normal" about driving to N. Ireland and stopping at a military checkpoint to have your entire car searched at gunpoint.
