Yes please. They’re dangerous even if “used properly.” The thin cord is much more likely to break unexpectedly. They can cause burns if they wrap around limbs. They’re awful.

Never seen a dog on a retractable leash where the dog was properly leash trained or the owner had any ability to control the dog. Loose leash walking and recall starts at 8 weeks old in my house and heel at 6-7 months. If a dog can heel on command never need a retractable leash.

Yep. 1000%. Use a long lead if you need it. There is a reason you will never see a dog trainer using or suggesting a retractable lead. Ever.
